About the Author
Karuho Shiina was born and raised in Hokkaido, Japan. Though Kimi ni Todoke is only her second series following many one-shot stories, it has already racked up accolades from various "Best Manga of the Year" lists. Volume 30 marks the finale of Kimi no Todoke, and much like many of the prior volumes, it feels like treading water. There is no plot or character development here: just a perfunctory finale. If you were hoping for a brief epilogue/timeskip to see what how everyone's lives turn out... you won't find it here (but maybe hold out hope for an epilogue special chapter later). If you're here, odds are you've already read the previous 29(!) volumes: you don't need me to tell you that this is a phenomenal manga, you don't need me to tell you that Sawako is one of the best heroines in this genre, nor do you need me to tell you that once primary and secondary relationship arcs are "resolved," the series kinda runs out of steam. If you're in for 29, you may as well be in for 30, right? There are really only a few things you need to know: at 200 pages, the final book is slightly shorter than is typical, and feels even shorter due to multiple 2-page spreads; it consists of three chapters, all of which are very simple, and do little more than end what few dangling threads were left by volume 29. There are no problems to be resolved here: everyone's just saying their goodbyes: to each other, and to the readers. I picked up the series in 2014 when the English publication began, and even though Kimi Ni Todoke maybe should have ended a bit sooner, I am still sorry to see it go. It has been quite a ride, and one I am unlikely to ever forget.5/5 for the series as a whole.4/5 for the final arc (some great character moments).2/5 for the final volume (short, perfunctory).Note: !!! Content Warning !!! This volume does have implied sex between two characters, but (as you'd likely expect based on prior volumes) there is nothing graphic--it's all very PG. Personally I was a bit disappointed to see it, because Kimi Ni Todoke is typically all about subverting genre tropes, so it was a bit of a shame to see such an annoying trope played straight for almost an entire chapter.
This series captured my heart from the beginning! Well from the beginning of the anime anyway but I do want to buy the rest and read it from the beginning! That ending was sooooo unexpected and I was sooooooo surprised! And so...... I don't know how to stretch just how much I love this so it will reach but I recommend this series to shoujo and romance fans alike! It's sooooo sweet and filled with emotions I guarantee you'll like it so pick it up!
I feel all warm and happy! Love to see the character grow each chapter to who they are now! So glad I was able to follow along and finish the story to the very end!
Such a cute story I laughed and cried. Is stayed up reading all 30 volumes. I definitely recommend this anyone!
