If you are LDS (Mormon) you will love these for your kids/teens. My husband and I love them too! He is hilarious, so his talks are fun and engaging while uplifting at the same time. He paces well and goes back and forth between light-hearted and serious. The stories that he tells really bring his point home and get kids thinking more about their life and choices. My nine year old boy loves these, and has listened to them over and over. I sometimes bring them up when we are having an issue that was discussed in one of the lectures, and it helps him understand my point better.
If you want 10 cds that are uplifting, funny, and share great messages, this is the perfect choice. He's clever, spiritual, but most of all I appreciate the messages and practical tips of how to better love your siblings, neighbors and strangers. One downside is that we had already purchased one of these separately, but I wish I had just found out about this first and avoided the double purchase. Anyhow, I highly recommend this set.
My daughter has been struggling with the Gospel and she was in a bad mood. Wouldn't go to seminary...ordered this in hopes...she listened to one CD after I told her to "just listen to one, only one..." She listened to the whole collection in one afternoon and evening!! And I could hear her laughing through her bedroom door. Highly recommend for families and young adult audiences. Something to play on the Sabbath or on a road trip.
I had never heard of Hank Smith until last summer while visiting family. Now our whole family loves him. He is a great speaker, who can entertain and teach both kids and adults. My children ages 14, 11, 9 and 7 think he is hilarious and I know they are learning from him. He has a great way of drawing you in and keeping you interested as he teaches about life and the gospel. We've already bought some other talks of his that are not included in this collection and I know we will get more.
My husband listened to this whole collection on a road trip and came home a new man. It's a great collection of funny and inspiring talks. Hank Smith is irreverent at times but when he gets serious, beautiful connections and lasting imagery is distilled on the listening soul. My 10-year-old loves Hank Smith, too. We will be listening to these discs in the car for a long time to come. Phrases like, "Don't crush my chips," and "How's your house's foundation," will be part of our family vocabulary for a long time to come.
Hank Smith's outlook on life lessons is definitely unique. He captivated my children in the first CD that we listen to. Ever since then, they back to listen to Hank Smith anytime we are riding in the car. They prefer it over any type of music. The CDs are definitely a good eight and helping to raise good and happy children. But it doesn't stop at children, as an adult they gave me a perspective to help me realize somethings are just not important and other things are.
I wish I could give this 10 stars. This is such a fantastic collection! I bought it for my "children" but really, I'm the one enjoying them all of the time. (My kids do love it too.) I listen to the cds in my car all the time, I always have one in. Even though I've heard the stories over and over, they never fail to make me laugh. If you're looking for something inspirational and hilarious for your kids (or yourself!) Look no further.
My whole family loves these talks. Hank makes you laugh, he helps you make gospel connections with your own life and leaves you wanting to do and be better. But he makes it fun! I leave the collection in our car and 9 times out of 10 my kids will get in the car and immediately say, "Turn on Hank!" They know each of the titles by name and will request different ones. I also love that it gives us opportunities to discuss ways we can improve our own lives. I've recommended these to so many and have purchased as gifts for others. My only complaint is that there aren't more CDs in the collection!! If you want something uplifting and humorous, look no further!!
