According to my account history I purchased this book along with 12 others in November 2008. That was about 6 months in to my journey of identifying Sears houses or mail ordered kit homes. That was 7 years ago! I own a couple of copies of this book now, I kept one in my car and one at my desk. For a long time it was one of my go to books for researching the Sears models offered during the mid 1920's. I have the actual catalogs now but you can't buy them at this price! I highly recommend this book as it is a reprint of a Sears Modern Homes catalog that shows the catalog images as printed, image of house and the floor plan with a brief description and the specifications for each model. Unless you are a collector of vintage ephemera or heavy in to Sears homes research I think this book is perfect!

Wonderful information in this catalog!! My home is listed as a "Fullerton", built in 1934 with a kit from this catalog. The most interesting was reading about all of the incidentals such as flooring, plumbing, heating, etc.. Also the changes from then until now is fascinating. Thank You!!!
I love looking at these old floor plans and this book has a nice selection, besides the history of packaged house kits.
You won't find any houses in this book that are not already included in "Houses by Mail", but this Dover reprint of an original 1926 Sears Catalogue of Houses is an interesting read.It gives more complete information about the old houses and their blueprints, and also has a detailed listing of hardware, with excellent photos, which goes a long way in helping identify Sears Homes.It's a big book - about 8 x 11, and the information is much easier to read than the half-sized "Houses by Mail."Personally, I own a couple copies of this book and frequently recommend it at my lectures.Roseauthor, The Houses That Sears Built
