I couldn't deny buying HIM the moment it dropped. So much of what I see in the unwritten interactions I have with the good men in my life are loosely etched, whispered on every page. The love and gentleness contained within is like a secret that will disappear if closed too harshly. I enjoyed and respect the level of honesty it took to write this and fully intend to continue ignoring my social media until I'm finished reading it a second time through. Buy it, read it, and share it.
I had high expectations for this book. It exceeded them! I fell in love with Pierre Jeanty's work because he has an amazing ability to translate complex emotions and experiences to relatable and pure language. I truly feel like have a greater understanding of the men in my life. My perspective and expectations have changed positively. I feel like I'm able to give more grace and patience. Now having more knowledge of what can go on in their minds and hearts. By no means was I a man basher, but it's become easy to look and sum them up. Or be frustrated by their communication (or lack thereof) There are several things that men do and say (or not do and say) that perplex me. And although, as Mr. Jeanty clearly states, he doesn't speak for all men...I honestly feel more insightful about the thoughts, emotions, wounds and Joy's of a man. When I read 'Her' and "Her 2' I recall saying "Wow! Yes! He gets it. He really just gets it/me/women!". I had that same reaction with "Him'...and said "Wow! Yes! I get it now. I can understand him/lover/friend/brother/father better." I love and will continue to support this great author and poet!
If you want to dive into a man's mind, this is the PERFECT book! Jeanty touches on the thoughts and feelings of a man and really gets in touch with some of the key things most women or anyone looks for, but he does it in such a way that can't be described with any other word but BEAUTIFUL!
